About Me

Dr. Joy Bressler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in individual, and couples therapy and maintains a private practice in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Bressler has over 20 years experience working as a therapist and administrator in a large urban university campus counseling center and a therapist in community mental health, inpatient and outpatient settings as well as teaching advanced clinical practice to graduate social work students.  She is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and trauma.

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, she has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of group psychotherapy, suicide prevention, biofeedback, and stress management for professional women and men.

Dr. Bressler is an interactive, contemporary psychodynamic, object relations  therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
